The bilingual Tribuno del Pueblo and the People’s Tribune stand against the false statements about migrants. We are launching a campaign to get the truth out!

We are launching this campaign to combat all the mainstream lies and shine a moral light on the truth: that no human being is illegal, and seeking asylum is a human right. We hope it will help everyone see that the migrants and refugees are not wrecking this country. It is the billionaires and their for-profit system that are wrecking the country, and all of us have a common cause in transforming our country, and we can do so if we unite.

Before borders and patrol agents existed, humans migrated anywhere they wanted or needed to. In the past, the United States prided itself on being the “land of the free” and a country where the American Dream was attainable. Over the years, “controlling the border” has become the divisive new slogan in this country.

What is behind the lies

The U.S. is facing both economic and political crisis. Forty percent of our population is living in poverty or near-poverty. Millions are homeless, hungry and without health care. Millions are struggling just to pay the rent and eat, and thousands more are falling into poverty every week. If the intentions were to meet basic human needs, there is more than enough to go around for everyone. Instead, over $1 trillion a year goes to the military and war, which further displaces people and forces them to migrate. Trillions more have gone towards tax cuts to make the rich even richer.

The wealthy and powerful have mounted an assault on democracy and the right to protest, alongside an effort to keep the people divided and blaming each other for the crisis. This is how the immigration question is being used – the native-born and “legal” immigrants are being pitted against migrants and refugees to divert attention from the billionaires and corporations who are the real problem.

We, the Tribuno del Pueblo and People’s Tribune, aim to sow the seeds of solidarity and unity among the people in order to fight our true common enemy. We expose the lies told about migrants and refugees. We tell the truth of why migrants and refugees are forced to flee their home countries and expose why they are scapegoated by a system that is failing all of us. We want to intensify these efforts, especially in the period leading up to the elections.

We also want to help mobilize voters, and we want to send our journalists to cover the upcoming political conventions and gather the voices of those demanding change.

Over past administrations, and for this election year, we have seen the Democratic party pander to an increasingly extremist Republican party on border, immigration, and asylee issues. They call this bipartisanship.

Immigrants have been called animals and criminals, and we’re told they will take our jobs. The immigration recommendations in the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025, which has been called “the policy playbook for a second Trump administration,” are especially troubling, as are Trump’s proposals for mass round-ups and deportations of immigrants.

We invite you to contribute your stories, experiences, art, opinions and donations to this campaign. Our publications are non-profit. We rely on donations from our readers and supporters to make this campaign a success.

Help bring people together to save our country from the dangerous path the billionaires and their parties are taking – a path of sickness, war, hunger, insecurity, and the fascist talk of rounding up “undocumented” people, separating families and deporting people. Together we can cultivate the unity and solidarity that can help put our country and the world on a more positive path.
