The poll gates opened
Onto fragrant landscapes
Of life-giving blooms.

Hopes for the houseless
Stuck up some shoots;
Reasons for living
Smiled over dead dreams.

Spring sprung in Chicago
After so many years
With empathy, harmony,
Goodwill and community.
