From January 12-15, 2024, the Witness at the Border immigrant rights group is sponsoring a Workshop for Justice/Taller por la Justicia at the Sonoran Desert Inn and Conference Center in Ajo, Arizona. The registration deadline is December 15.
At the workshop, organizers say, immigrant rights activists from around the country will gather to “reflect, collaborate and think critically about where we are as a movement, and where we go from here.” The workshop will include guest speakers and panelists, breakout sessions, open discussion and opportunities to volunteer and take action.Visit https://witnessattheborder.org/ to access the event information and registration form.
Witness at the Border is fundraising to help defray some of the costs of hosting the Workshop. Checks may be sent to Witness Fund, Inc. PO Box 2324 Northbrook, IL 60065. Or donate through Gofundme at: https://www.gofundme.com/f/workshop-for-justice
In December 2022, Witness at the Border organized the Journey for Justice, in which activists traveled the length of the 2,200-mile U.S. southern border from Texas to California to document the abuse and obstacles that migrants and asylum seekers encounter and to honor the lives of those who have suffered and died trying to cross the border.
