‘Again, this is not an endorsement of the Democratic Party, but rather a call to defend what little democracy remains by, at this moment, keeping Trump and Project 2025 out of the White House. . . stopping Trump does not mean we stop applying pressure to the Democrats on our issues. It simply means voting to defeat Project 2025.’

The 2024 elections are happening at a time of deep crisis in our country and world. Our rights are severely under attack. The “major” political parties disappoint many people. Among those who value peace, the Earth, human rights, social justice and democracy, there is a debate about what to do. Some are supportive of Harris, while others are so disgusted with both the Democratic and Republican parties that they will either vote for third parties or not vote. Others insist that regardless of the Democrats’ shortcomings, the most important thing at the moment is to push back the extreme right and keep Trump and his Project 2025, the far-right blueprint for eliminating democracy (including voting), out of the White House.

We at the People’s Tribune feel it’s crucial to defeat Trump and Project 2025. But this is not an endorsement of the Democratic Party. The people have been driven backward over many years by both Democratic and Republican administrations. Many remain deeply disappointed at the Democrats’ stands on issues such as the economy, climate, immigration, housing, healthcare, police violence, gun violence and the genocide in Palestine. It’s clear that, regardless of who wins the election, the people will have a fight on their hands to stop the wars, feed and house people, and build a real democracy.

Again, this is not an endorsement of the Democratic Party, but rather a call to defend what little democracy remains by, at this moment, keeping Trump and Project 2025 out of the White House. If Trump loses, then we the people will have a little more maneuverability to broaden and unify a movement of tens of millions of workers in this country. So stopping Trump does not mean we stop applying pressure to the Democrats on our issues. It simply means voting to defeat Project 2025.

A broad movement against corporate power and for democracy, peace, justice, equality and prosperity for all is rising up in America. It will not let anyone stand in its way as it pushes forward to create a free society that nurtures and protects all of its people.  Forward Ever, Backward Never!
