To our readers: Harvard University is standing up to the illegal actions of the Federal government to force the school to surrender their academic independence and allow federal control over its curriculum, faculty, and student body. In retaliation, the latest government action on May 22 ordered Harvard to be stripped of its authority to sponsor visas for international students and scholars for the 2025-26 academic year. The university is fighting it legally, but if held, could be ordered to expel international students, setting the stage for possible deportations. The university’s defense of international students and scholars is a defense of international students everywhere, and all students. Below we republish a letter from Harvard President Alan M. Garner to faculty and students, explaining the University’s stance and actions. — People’s Tribune
