The New Order
by Kathy Powers
I am not a terrorist.
I do not condone this war or any other.
I did not vote for this person who claims
presidency.
I am powerless to change these events.
I can protest until my voice cracks and my
breath fails.
I can support my country yet decry its actions.
I can mourn the casualties, all of them.
I can grieve my impotence.
I am the terrorized.
Kathy Powers is a lifetime Chicagoan. At 50, Kathy speaks out as the voice of the people. She became a revolutionary activist whose lifelong fight raises unheard voices. She is the Health Care Desk on the People’s Tribune Editorial Board.
